Wet Ball Mill
Wet Ball Mill
A ball mill is a grinding machine to mill material and can also be used to mix material. The ball milling machine is the key machine used after the materials are crushed. The ball milling machine has a cylindrical body with spherical grinding mediums and materials. Ball mills can be widely used in cement, silicate, refractory materials, chemical fertilizer, ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, ceramics, and so on. We always use a ball milling machine to mix and mill tungsten carbide powder. In this article, you can some brief information about ball mill as follows aspects:
1. Structure of wet milling
2. Working principle of wet milling
3. Application material of wet milling
4. Advantages of wet ball mill
5. Disadvantages of wet ball mill
1. Structure of wet milling
A ball milling machine for wet drilling is composed of a feeding part, discharging part, a turning part, and transmission parts, such as a retarder, a small transmission gear, a motor, and electronic control. The discharge part is horn-sharped.
2. Working principle of wet milling
During wet milling, water or anhydrous ethanol is added. Tungsten carbide powder is driven by water. The tungsten carbide powder coarse particle will be cracked under the impact of the grinding medium. As the crack gradually increases, the particle will get finer. After milling, the grinding tungsten carbide will be discharged through the discharging part.
3. Application materials of wet milling
Wet milling is suitable for most materials, such as metal ore, non-metal ore, copper ore, iron ore, molybdenum ore, phosphate rock, and so on. Generally speaking, those materials which is water-repellent and which water will not affect the quality of the final product, can be used for wet grinding.
4. Advantages of wet ball mill
A. Wet milling is an efficient method to mill tungsten carbide. It has a high production capacity and low power consumption;
B. Compared to dry milling, it is easier for wet milling to flow tungsten carbide. Water and ethanol can wash away the particles to avoid over-grinding;
C. Unlike dry milling, wet ball milling has a transportation device, so the investment of wet milling is about 5% lower than that of dry milling;
D. Applying wet milling, the grinding particle of tungsten carbide can be finer and more uniform.
5. Disadvantages of wet ball mill
After wet milling, tungsten carbide powder needs to be dried by spray drying.
