What Are Crushed Tungsten Carbide Grits

Crushed tungsten carbide and tungsten carbide grit are also called tungsten carbide grains of carbide particles. The crushed carbide grits were created by recycled tungsten carbide scrap.

How to crush the carbide scrap?

First, recycle the tungsten carbide scrap. The best quality of the carbide scrap is carbide anvil.

We all know most carbide anvil is produced from carbide grade YG8. If the carbide grits are crushed from carbide anvils, the physical performance of the carbide grits is stable and perfect.

The hardness of the grade YG8 is more than 87HRA, and it will make the carbide grits more durable than those grades mixed.

Second, crush the carbide scrap. Hard alloy grits always are crushed by a tungsten carbide crushing machine, especially for the large size of the carbide scrap. Although we can get the excact size range, the crushing time differs according to the sizes of the carbide grits.

Third, sieve the carbide grits after crushing to get the exact size range.

There are two different types of mesh sieve. One of the holes is round, the other one, the hole is square. Round one is better than the square hole, which can sieve out the more presice size.

The standard sizes of the carbide grits.

1/16” x 1/8” (1.6 x 3.2 mm) (6-8 mesh)

3/16” x 1/8” (3.2 x 4.8 mm) (4-6 mesh)

3/32” x 1/16” (1.6 x 2.4mm) (8-14 mesh)

5/64” x 1/32” (0.8 x 1.6mm)  (10-18 mesh)

(1 x 2 mm)

(2 x 4 mm)

1/4” x 3/16” (4.8 x 6.4 mm) (3-4 mesh)

5/16” x 1/4” (6.4 x 7.9mm) (2-3 mesh)

3/8” x 5/16” (7.9 x 9.5 mm) (1-2 mesh)

1/2” x 3/8” (9.5 x 12.7 mm) (0-1 mesh)

The applications of the carbide grits

Cemented carbide grits will be welded on some tools as a layer of protection to make tools, such as bulldozer blades, bucket teeth, wood grinding hammer, trencher teeth, cutting edge blades, more durable and tough. Tungsten carbide crushed tips provide long-lasting wear protection of the costly parts.
